LAST MONTH’S MINUTES for the Board of Directors Meeting on February 6, 2010, were approved.

TREASURER: To report at May meeting Fall 2010 show and sale results as well as balance. A donation check of 10% of Fall Show and sale to be cut for Buchser School.

MEMBERSHIP: With renewals, the total membership is now 149 people.

HOSPITALITY: Thanks to Anthony and Vicki Ortiz for helping out with this function!

The May PROGRAM –You had to have it. Future programs discussed, Madagascan aloes given by Institute for aloe Studies. Kathi suggested a speaker from Ruth Bancroft to speak about insects.

LIBRARY: New Book added, Stapeliads by John Pilbeam, Motion made to purchase Les Aloes de Madagascar.

AFFILIATE: No Additions.

MINI SHOW: Cathi purchased storage supplies and needs to replenish a few more supplies.

SPRING SHOW: We spent the bulk of the meeting time attaching address labels and postage to 700+ pre-printed postcards advertising the CSSSJ Spring Show and Sale. Linda will be bringing soda, water and potting soil for demo. Bill will be buying the set up crew Pizza. Wes was approached for BBQ, and will do it. We need to announce to all club members that food on Saturday and Sunday are pot luck lunches. Red headed Irishmen cactus category at the show is canned.

FALL SHOW: Buchser School is remodeling their gym and it will not be available for our fall show, numerous members helping with trying to find a new space with no solid leads, if a space isn’t found by May meeting, fall show will be cancelled until further notice. Cash only register was discussed and idea was dropped.

BY-LAWS: Nothing new to report.

OLD BUSINESS: Make a check to Buescher for Fall show, motion was made to write the donation check, and it will be in the range of $400-$500.

NEW BUSINESS: Jaan to contact our webmaster to update show rules and other show related topics to website. Joel made a handout stating dimensions of Buescher school’s Gym which is 90 x 55 or 4,900 sq. ft. He discussed rental rates of the New Campbell community center but the club agreed it was not in our budget to rent it as they would be charging $225-$245 an hour for the rental. Joseph found San Jose Historical Park within Kelley Park may be an option, but it was denied because parking fee of $10 as well as parking distance would be an issue for some club members. Other club member to scout out other schools for fall show.
