March 4, 2007

Call to Order by President Linda Delgado at the Prusch Park Meeting Hall at 10:45 A.M.

LAST MONTH'S MINUTES for the Board of Directors Meeting on February 4, 2007 were not available.

MEMBERSHIP: The total membership is 74.

HOSPITALITY: It was suggested to have the hospitality be provided by different members on a rotating basis. Bill Kurtz said that he was okay with handling it for the time being. This may be addressed again at some future time.

The April PROGRAM will be our annual Show and Sale at Buchser School in Santa Clara on April 14 & 15.

LIBRARY: A motion was proposed and approved to add two new books to our library: Bromeliads for the Contemporary Garden, by Andrew Steens, and The Botanical Gardens at the Huntington, by the Huntington Botanical Staff.

AFFILIATE: CSSA Membership dues of $50 were paid in December. An additional $50 will be paid for the CSSA research and color fund. Our club has joined the Guadalupe Gardens.

MINI SHOW: February had 9-participants. Results were published in the March newsletter.

SPRING SHOW:

• Tony designed and had printed out the flyers and postcards. Chuck will send these out 1-2 weeks prior to the event.
• We will be using paper bags to hold single purchased plants in instead of boxes.
• We won't need Security for the back door this year. It was deemed not necessary.
• Sign-up sheets for club-member assistance at the Show and Sale are now available.
• It was decided not to give Show Bucks to the vendors for their assisting, since that is required as part of their requirements for selling.
• Tony procured 3-inflatable cactus figures to be used as part of our advertising.

BY-LAWS: Nothing new to report.

OLD BUSINESS:

• We would like to have a standing advertisement in our newsletter for the purchase of our club's CSSSJ logo silk-screened tee-shirts. Before we do this, do we want to mail out the tee-shirts or bring them to our monthly meetings?
• It was suggested to have a Getting to Know You set of cards with facts about each person. Linda will look into how we can do this.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Sandy will be printing up the new 2007 membership rosters.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:20 P.M.

There will not be an April Board of Directors meeting, nor a regular club meeting due to the annual Show and Sale being on April 14 & 15.

The next Board meeting will be on May 6, 2007, at the Prusch Park Meeting Hall at 10:30 A.M.
