LAST MONTH’S MINUTES for the Board of Directors Meeting on May 2, 2004 were approved.

TREASURER: The estimated balance as of June 6, 2004 is $8914.83.  No checks are outstanding.  Some bills from the Show and Sale, the School, etc., are still unpaid.  The Show and Sale should show approximately a $1454.18 profit after all bills are paid.

MEMBERSHIP: The CSSSJ has 104 paid members as of June 6, 2004.

HOSPITALITY: Nothing new to report.  Bill Kurtz will remain the interim hospitality director as we try to find a volunteer to take over the position.  The group agreed that the club needs to more aggressively find someone to take over this position.

PROGRAM: The program for the July meeting will be the Country Store. Jim Daniel will be giving a program on his trips to Baja at the August meeting.  Woody Minnich will be the presenter at the September meeting.  Mark Mauradian will be the presenter at the October or November meeting.   Linda Delgado queried Bonfante Gardens to see if they would give a group discount to the club for a possible Summer field trip, but they only offer tours on Fridays, and nothing in August.  The July through October meetings will be on the second Sunday of the month, due to various schedule conflicts.

LIBRARY: Nothing new to report.  Linda now has six boxes of the club’s library holdings in her possession. Either a lot of the books are missing, or we recently sold a lot of them.  She will continue working on updating the list.

AFFILIATE: Nothing new to report.

MINI SHOW: Nothing new to report.  Bill Gingras is considering taking over the position of Mini-Show chairperson, if Paul Long wants to give it up.

ANNUAL SHOW: Bill M suggested that we avoid both the Palm Sunday and Easter weekends when choosing a weekend for the Show and Sale.  We found that advertising is important; many of the $1-off coupons were returned on Saturday, but very few on Sunday.

Bill K made a motion that we give $500 to the school for their science department fire fund.  He also made a motion that we give $200 to the custodians, who did not charge for their service.  The board voted on and approved both motions.

OLD BUSINESS: None.

NEW BUSINESS: We discussed the need for a structure for reimbursing members who send gifts, etc., to others in the name of the club.  In one recent specific case, the board voted on and approved not providing reimbursement for the gift.  The board also voted on and approved providing 50% reimbursement for the gift.

Bill K got a letter and check from Edward M. Eby, one of the founding members of the club.  The check is a donation for $50 to the club.  Sandy will send a Thank You card to him.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:05 A.M.

The next Board meeting will be on July 11th, 2004, at the Prusch Park Meeting Hall at 10:30 A.M.
