BOARD OF DIRECTORS
September 11, 2005
Call to Order by President Bill Munkacsy at the Prusch Park Meeting Hall at 10:45 A.M.
President Bill Munkacsy Secretary Sandy Carter
Past President Wes Briggs Program Director Bill Kurtz
Associate Director Rowena Southwell Associate Director Chuck Breese
Vice President Linda Delgado
Treasurer Tony Bassano
Associate Director Richard Deming
LAST MONTH’S MINUTES for the Board of Directors Meeting on August 7, 2005 were approved.
TREASURER: The current bank account balance is $7,748 as of August 31, 2005. We are still waiting for the custodial charges from our show and sale. Tony Bassano wants to resign his position. We are looking for a new Treasurer.
MEMBERSHIP: We have 2 new members, bringing our membership up to 90 people.
HOSPITALITY: We are looking for someone to take over the Hospitality responsibilities.
The October PROGRAM will be a discussion on basic information on plants and plant growing led by Bill Munkacsy, Rowena Southwell, and Wes Briggs. They will share their expertise in the area of soil composition, potting methods, and staging for show and sale.
LIBRARY: Bill and Joan Kurtz attended the CSSA convention in Scottsdale, Arizona, this last August. Bill made a list of new book publications that he recommends for our library to purchase, in the name of an anonymous donor from earlier this year.
AFFILIATE: Nothing new to report.
MINI SHOW: Nothing new to report.
ANNUAL SHOW: Tony Bassano is working on the final fiscal information for the Show and Sale. We still need the custodial charges. A great idea was suggested to have a section for kids, where our members can show them how to pot plants. We also need to have a new membership information table set up next year.
BY-LAWS: Nothing new to report.
§ A good idea was suggested to include advertisements for our club’s growers on the last page of our courier. Maybe, even to open up a personal want ads page. This might generate some enthusiasm from our members to exchange plants they are looking for, are giving away, or selling.
§ Our club has a number of trophy and ribbon prizes that are no longer being used, which we would like to part with. They could either be donated to the CSSA, donated to Children’s clubs as awards, cut-out and remounted, or photographed and put on our club’s web-site as a tribute to the names contained on them. We are looking for suggestions.
§ Bill Kurtz has several boxes of old CSSSJ couriers and a large wooden bookshelf that he would like to find a new home for.
§ It was recommended that we split up our monthly programs into smaller multiple sections, so we can have more variety, and possibly perk up our membership interest.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 A.M.
The next Board meeting will be on October 9, 2005, at the Prusch Park Meeting Hall at
